Are you susceptible to Chronic Pain?

Even just feelings of fear, worry or unsafe can cause the nervous system to get on a very sensitive setting.

Good morning,

Have you ever wondered why some people develop chronic pain, and others don’t? 🤔

Let’s investigate……

Two people can have nearly identical injuries, yet one person can go on and develop chronic pain for years, while the other heals and moves on.

Why?

One big factor in play here is the nervous system!

Most injuries heal within 2-3 months. Beyond that window, it is likely that the original pain signal has now become a learned response of the brain and nervous system.

Every individual has their own unique nervous system. This system gets programmed over time by all of your life experiences, your responses to those experiences, and by prolonged periods of stress.

Even just feelings of fear, worry or unsafe can cause the nervous system to get on a very sensitive setting.

Depending on your responses to your life experiences, your nervous system also gets trained to anticipate and be more reactive to stress and negative emotions, which can actually produce or intensify pain symptoms.

So, if two people are going into a similar injury with these different nervous systems, the one whose nervous system is set to a more sensitive setting is probably more likely to develop chronic pain.

👉 If this is you, don’t worry, this is not a life sentence!

These learned responses are reversible, and there are several techniques that are taught in our Mind-Body Coaching program that can help you turn the pain signal off.
